Freddy the senior cat had an aggressive cancer on his hindlimb that was not surgically resectable. His pet parents wanted a 2nd opinion on possible amputation. We proceeded with a health check & staging process that revealed a cancerous splenic tumor during his abdominal ultrasound. Fine needle aspiration & digital cytology provided us with a pathology report in just minutes. In this case, amputation would not have solved Freddy’s problem. Freddy was instead referred to an oncologist for a consultation to discuss further treatment options.
