Mugsy was forced to breathe through a tiny hole in his throat. Like many short nosed dogs he suffered from a flap in his throat (elongated soft palate) that blocked the entrance of air into his windpipe, making every breath a struggle.

Thankfully, we have a minimally invasive solution for this big problem in the throat, our carbon dioxide laser from Vetscalpel.

We precisely mark the area that needs to be removed & gently remove the blockage.

The laser helps us seal blood vessels for less bleeding, lymphatics for less swelling, & nerve endings for less pain.

Without the need for sutures in the throat, we eliminate concerns about suture reactions & dehiscence — when sutures can break down or the surgical site can come apart.

This minimally invasive approach allows us to correct a very big problem in a very delicate area.
